Delicious Chicken Wings: Baked, Crispy, 3-Ingredient, Low Carb & Gluten-Free

Homemade chicken wings don’t get any easier than this. With only three ingredients pulled from your pantry, you’ll have a delicious snack fresh from the oven whenever the craving for crispy chicken hits!

I have a confession; I wasn’t always a fan of chicken wings. It wasn’t until my husband started making them at home that I fell in love (and flat out refuse to share!) with chicken wings.

I’ve been begging him to let me share how he makes them at home with you for a while. He finally got tired of me nagging er begging!

He not only wrote down the recipe but took photos of the process for me to share with you!

These chicken wings are so simple your kids can make them, as long as they are comfortable using the oven. When I asked him to write down what he did, I told him to be clear in the instructions as you may want your kids to make them.

Well, he did that alright! Jokes on him, I am sharing the recipe precisely as he wrote it.

And you thought the kids were sarcastic due to my influence.

Cooking With Kids

If you are using this recipe to teach your kids to cook (which is a great idea!), I have included a list of kitchen tools you will need and a list of kitchen skills your kids should have mastered to make this easier on you.

If you are not making this with kids, you can skip over both of those sections.

Kitchen Tools You Need:

Skills Your Kids Need:

My kids use my oven all the time. If your kids are not familiar with using the oven, please take the time to go over how to use it safely.

Parental supervision is recommended.

  • Using the oven safely
  • Pouring
  • Stirring/mixing

3 Ingredient Baked Chicken Wings:

What I love about this recipe is you can change it up for your tastes. Like it spicy? Add hot sauce. Like them mild? Choose spices you love.

If you are keeping these gluten-free, please double check your ingredients. We’ve discovered gluten likes to hide in sneaky places. One reader told me she found it in her makeup! Read the ingredients carefully as our brand may be different from yours.

  • Prep time: 5 minutes
  • Active cook time: 50 minutes
  • Serves 4-6 depending on the number of chicken wings used

What You Need:

This recipe does not have “amounts” due to the fact it depends on the number of chicken wings you are making.

You’ll need:

  • Chicken wings (we buy them cut and separated)
  • Oil
  • Seasoning

How To Cut Chicken Wings:

We buy our chicken wings already cut and trimmed, its a great way to save time.

However, you can save some money by trimming them yourself. See photo for the approximate location of where to cut each whole wing. Cut along the black lines.

They are a little easier to trim AFTER they’ve been cooked. Immediately freeze the tips to make chicken stock later.

Here are my husband’s instructions as he wrote them:

Baked Chicken Wings Clean Up Tips:

You’ll want to clean off the cookie sheet right away. If you forget it on the stove, it can be tough to clean even with the baking mat. The mat we use belongs to my daughter for her baking

My husband got a text the next day after making chicken wings that he had forgotten to clean it. She was not impressed that he did not clean it and that it was left for her turn to wash the dishes. Oops!

She saved up and purchased a set with her own money. This is why step 22 above is there.

A quick clean in warm soapy water, sooner rather than later, fixes that problem.

Dress Up Your Chicken Wings:

My favorite way to eat these is fresh from the oven as is. We use whatever spices we have on hand.

Current favorites are:

  • chicken and rib
  • steak spice rub
  • dry rub chicken

If you have the Snacks Kids Can Make, the ranch dressing is a great dipping sauce as well as sour cream to cool down any hot spice for those of us who are not a fan!

Food Prep Chicken Wing Tips

These chicken wings do well for meal prepping. You can eat them cold or reheat them. To reheat, it is best done in a frying pan on the stovetop to keep them crispy, but you can microwave them if need be.

Add a salad to keep it low carb and gluten-free or add your favorite homemade french fries. Kids love sliced up veggies that they can dip along with the chicken wings!

According to Our Every Day Life, you can keep them in the fridge for up to 4 days. They won’t last that long, but now you know.

The next time a strong craving for chicken wings hits, you’ll know exactly how to get your fix!

Cheers!

Jen
