Welcome to Practical, By Default.
I am so glad you are here, if you are struggling with working and homeschooling and don’t know where to start, you’ve come to the right place! Let me introduce myself.
Hi! I’m Jen-and I’m practical, by default! What does this mean?
It means I am the wife who asked for a dishwasher for an anniversary gift (or an Instant Pot!) instead of a ring. It means if I can use it, eat it, wear it or read it-I will probably love it.
Which means I know life as a working mom and homeschooler can be tough, hard on the head and heart, and time-consuming.
It means I am going to share valuable resources, tips, and tricks with you that are totally practical and doable designed for working homeschool moms. These will help make your life not only easier but save you time and money so you can spend the time on more meaningful things-like reading and eating chocolate!
I’m passionate about learning, teaching, reading and many, many things. I have been homeschooling for over 11 years and love trying out new curriculum, reading new books, and I can’t wait to share them with you.
Just like you, I have many roles and titles. I’m a wife, mother, daughter, friend, business owner (working at home), working outside the home, cook, cleaner etc.
Helping me balance it all is an amazing man and father. He’s been keeping me semi-sane for 15+ years.
Chuck in being a mom to a teenage boy and
preteen girl and the gray hair to prove it! 😉 Oh! and mommy to two cats and a dog. Can’t forget them!
Busy, crazy and hectic? Yeah, I get that!
We homeschool, we cook, we learn and we live-and I am sharing it all with you. I want to encourage you that you CAN work and homeschool and still have fun in your homeschool. <3 You got this!
