Simple Daily Cleaning Schedule For Working Moms
When I first started working while homeschooling, I struggled to keep up with the housework until I created a daily cleaning schedule for working moms.
This simple daily cleaning schedule works if you work inside the home or outside the home or both because it helps you find the time to keep up with your house cleaning.
The purpose of this daily cleaning schedule is not to keep your home picture perfect but to keep your home at a manageable level without being overwhelmed by the mess.
This is the exact cleaning schedule I use every single day along with these cleaning tips for busy moms.
I love printable lists, so I have created a free printable cleaning schedule for you.
However, I want to encourage you to adapt it to fit your needs. There are things I do every day, like making my bed even though no one will see it, because it helps me feel good about my home.
That might not be a big deal for you, but tidying the entryway might be. Just like our homeschool, use my daily cleaning schedule as a guide to creating your own.
How Do Working Moms Keep A Clean Home?
As much as I love having a clean home, I am not a fan of cleaning.
The only way I’ve managed to keep up with my house cleaning is to create cleaning schedules and assign chores.
I use daily cleaning schedules, weekly cleaning schedules, and monthly cleaning schedules to make sure the house stays clean.
That doesn’t mean I don’t need hacks to clean the house fast when friends are coming to visit, I do!
It just means that a good cleaning schedule combined with the right cleaning supplies helps me stay on track.

Daily House Cleaning Schedule For Working Moms
This cleaning list is designed for working moms. Working moms don’t have time to mess around. You are busy. You need quick, easy wins!
The goal of this daily cleaning schedule is to help you feel good about your home and avoid getting to the point of being overwhelmed.
I call this a daily maintenance schedule.
This is a list of cleaning tasks I do every day that is fast, easy, and help me feel good about my home.
My daily cleaning list only takes me about 25-30 minutes each day. However, your house may be bigger than mine, so I would recommend timing yourself the first few times so you can plan your day accordingly.
What Needs To Be Cleaned Each Day
As you go about your day, take note of things that are used daily.
In my home, it is dishes, laundry, the bathroom sink, and the toilet.
I have not included scooping the kitty litter on this daily schedule, but it is something that is done in our home daily.
If you have pets or other rooms, such as a home office or homeschool room that need to be cleaned each day, add it to your daily cleaning routine.
If you have small children, you may need to add cleaning the high chair or the changing table daily. Make this list work for you!
Daily Cleaning Schedule For Working Moms
Every day, I focus on three spaces (bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom) and 1 task (laundry) each day.
I’ve broken the list down by space and time to help you create your own daily cleaning schedule.
You’ll notice the tasks don’t take a lot of time because, as a working mom, you don’t have hours and hours to spend cleaning each day.
I’ve included times, but these are estimates and will change depending on the size of your room and family.
Bedroom: (5 Minutes)
- Make your bed
The first thing I do every morning is make my bed because the bed takes up the most space when it is unmade, the whole room feels messy.
But if I make the bed, the whole room feels clean, fresh, and organized (even if it isn’t).
By the way, my husband thinks this is crazy and a waste of time. If you feel that way as well, pick something else, such as 5 minutes picking up clothes or whatever makes you feel good about your bedroom.
Kitchen: (15 Minutes at the most)
- Empty and refill the dishwasher
- Wipe down kitchen counters and disinfect
- If you have time, handwash dishes that don’t fit in your dishwasher in the morning. If you don’t have time, do them before you go to bed.
Since I am waiting for my coffee to perk, I use that time to deal with the dishwasher.
I also wipe down the crumbs and food off the counters and spray the counters off without moving anything. I’m not deep cleaning, I’m tidying.
If the dishwasher is full, I’ll start it.
Depending on how long emptying and refining the dishwasher took me, I’ll hand wash the dishes.
If I don’t have time before work, I assign that task to one of the kids as a chore or do it myself in the evening.
Bathroom: (5 Minutes)
- Pick up towels, facecloths, etc., and toss them in the laundry basket or washer
- Wipe down the sink
- Bonus: Swish and swipe the toilet
- If you shower before work: rinse the tub.
After I eat, I hit the bathroom for a quick pick up.
I start by grabbing the used facecloths and towels from the tub and tossing them in the basket or, if the washer is empty, right in the washer. (See next step.)
I grab my bathroom cleaner and spray down the sink and wipe it out.
A clean bathroom sink feels better when you come to wash your face and brush your teeth.
If you grab a shower before work, I would recommend quickly spraying down the shower. Do not scrub it, you don’t have time for that.
I don’t always shower before work. When I do, I quickly spray the tub and toilet with the same cleaner. Then I use the spray nozzle of my shower and spray the tub down and swish the toilet with the brush, and flush.

Laundry: (5 Minutes plus time to fold your laundry)
- Toss load of laundry in the washer before work
- Toss that load in the dryer when you get home or if you work at home after work.
- After dinner, fold your clothes or live out of your laundry basket
Because laundry is a never-ending task in my home, I include it in my daily cleaning schedule for working moms.
My kids both do their own laundry, yet between my husband’s and my clothes and towels, I do a load of laundry daily. Rarely do I see the bottom of my laundry basket, and have yet to uncover why.
A few ways I save time on doing laundry may make you cringe, but it works for me.
I do not sort my laundry unless it is my first time washing something bright, such as a red sweater. That’s why we toss towels, both bathroom and kitchen towels/facecloths/hand towels, directly into the washer and start it when it’s full.
I do not buy any clothing that is “dry clean” only or clothes that have special washing instructions.
If you do any of these things, make sure you take those into consideration when it comes to your daily laundry tasks.
