Why Back to Homeschool Can Be Stressful

Heading back to homeschool after a break or summer vacation can be overwhelming for working moms.

The pressure of preparing lesson plans, gathering materials, and aligning your work schedule with your children’s learning needs can leave you feeling stretched thin. Not to mention the added challenge of ensuring a seamless transition from work mode to homeschool teacher mode.

It’s natural to feel stressed and anxious during this time but remember, you’re not alone!

One of the best things you can do when you start to feel overwhelmed is to step back and make a list of what needs to be done. Taking a big task and breaking it down into smaller bite-sized steps is one of my favorite ways to get things done.

That’s why I created this back to homeschool checklist for you. Let’s talk about how to use it after you download it.

How to Reduce Stress with the Checklist:

The Back to Homeschool Checklist is a game-changer when it comes to reducing stress. It breaks down the entire process into manageable steps, guiding you through each essential task.

But don’t let it sit there gathering dust, you need to use it! I printed mine off in color and since I use a disc-style homeschool planner I put it right into my planner so I wouldn’t lose it.

I use these planning tools to organize my planner in a way that works for me. Or you can use a 3-ring binder if that works better. Whatever you do, put the checklist somewhere you will see it!

To make the most of the Back to Homeschool Checklist, here are some practical tips:

  1. Begin Early: Start using the checklist well in advance of the new homeschool year. Give yourself plenty of time to gather materials, assess curriculum options, and set up your homeschooling space.
  2. Involve Your Kids: Engage your children in the planning process. Discuss their preferences, interests, and goals for the upcoming year. Their input will make them more excited and invested in their homeschooling journey.
  3. Take Small Steps: Don’t feel pressured to complete the entire checklist in one go. Tackle one task at a time and celebrate each accomplishment. Small, consistent progress will lead to big results.
  4. Customize to Your Needs: Make use of the notes section at the end of the checklist to add items that fit your family’s unique circumstances and lifestyle. Remember, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to homeschooling, and that’s the beauty of it!
