Let’s face it, finding time to read is a struggle.

Because of my busy schedule between working outside the home, working at home, homeschooling and running all over the place, it can be a real challenge.

Thankfully audiobooks are becoming more popular.

I’ve noticed most of my favorite books come with an audio option.

This popularity is good thing because it means audiobooks are more affordable and available for a variety of devices.

Did you know? You can play audiobooks on your smart speakers, such as Amazon Echo, Google Home, or Google Home

But you don’t need these to play an audiobook, what you need is an app.

Best Audiobook Apps

Download the app, install it and you’ll be listening to your favorite book in no time wherever you are.

One thing to keep in mind, audiobooks take up more space than an ebook.

Google Play Books

Google Play Books allows you to download your book to read or listen on the go.

When you’re finished, find your next favorite from recommendations personalized just for you. Buy audiobooks and e-books as you go – with no subscription required.

Check it out here: Google Play Books

Audible

Audible itself is a free app to download and ad-free, and syncs audiobooks in your account between all connected devices.

Download books and podcasts right to your device so you can listen offline and save data, whether you’re commuting, at the gym, or relaxing at home.

Please note: This is not the same as the Audible subscription which costs $14.95 a month and gives you 2 free books and get other titles at 30% off the list price.

Although you might want to check that out to save money on audiobooks. 🙂

Kindle App

I love and use the Kindle app all the time because I can read on my phone, computer or tablet without a kindle! I did not know it also has the capability to be an audiobook player as well!

Download the app, open the book of your choices and choose Text to Speech option. Let me warn you, it is not riveting. Lol!

Don’t freak out yet, did you know when you purchase an ebook with Kindle you can add an audiobook companion for sometimes as low as $.99?! You’ll have one book in two formats. And this audio will be much more interesting! 😉

⇒Pro tip: I use Amazon and pair both Audible and Kindle together.

Here is how you add an audiobook for a discounted price to your purchase:

  1. Download the Audible app (Click here if you didn’t do that yet)
  2. Go to a book you want to buy
  3. Click the box “Add Audible Book to your purchase”
  4. Click “Buy Now with 1-Click”
  5. Note, do not click the “FREE with Audible trial”
  6. Choose buy button and complete your purchase
  7. Log into your app and your new books will be added to your library. Download and listen on the go!
