Lucie Langa Teaches

Are you looking to partner online with an experienced, compassionate educator in your homeschool journey? Does your student struggle with motivation, time management, focus, or emotional regulation? Lucie Langa Teaches may be the right fit for you!

Experience and Expertise:

Lucie holds a Bachelor’s in French from Skidmore College and a Master’s in Education from CUNY Hunter College. She regularly attends continuing education courses from Landmark Outreach to support students with learning differences. She has six years of experience teaching and coaching in a variety of settings. She works with 3rd to 12th graders, as well as college students. She has extensive experience working with learner variability: many of her students have diagnoses like ADHD, Dyslexia, Executive Dysfunction, ASD, and mental health concerns. Lucie believes that a diagnosis is a data point, not a fault that needs to be “fixed.” We all learn differently, and that’s what makes us great!

What she teaches:

Lucie teaches a variety of subjects, including all levels of French, English Language Arts, foundational math skills, Algebra, Geometry, Biology, and History.

However, her real passion is teaching students how to learn. Her coaching sessions focus on essential academic skills like time management, organization, planning, note-taking, active reading strategies, and self-regulation. She wants to foster independence and confidence in her students. Her sessions are a safe and welcoming space for students to learn their strengths and growth areas and to try new strategies to see what works. There is no one-size-fits-all in learning!

While Lucie was a bright kid, she struggled with executive dysfunction, organization, attention, and motivation. Common Questions

Are there specific times my child will need to be online?

For our live online classes, yes. Our classes are delivered live online via Zoom. You can download Zoom for free and you will receive an invite to class from your teacher. We do have students who cannot attend classes, and they watch the class recording. For the Classical Memory with Claritas classes, we do not record the information that is specific to Claritas (new memory work and memory review).

Will my child receive a grade?

Yes –Our teachers give and grade assignments, students receive a Semester 1 Grade Report and End-of-Year Grade Report.

What if my child struggles with the material?

Students have access to the teacher– they are all just a message away! Messages are usually answered within 24 hours during the week.

What does a typical week look like?

Our course Syllabus is housed in our secure online campus and each parent and student has access to this, along with the course schedule at all times. Each class differs in the amount of homework, but typically students will attend class and then have reading, assignments, videos, and projects to work on during the week. The expectations are clearly stated and teachers are available throughout the week to give feedback and help as needed.

What is your educational philosophy?

We believe that Education is the Transmission of Culture and we are committed to transmitting a Judeo-Christian culture in our classes. We believe that teaching is a form of discipleship and to that end pray for our students and seek to provide Godly mentorship. We desire that our students grow in their mastery of the material as well as their understanding of their selves and the part they plan in God’s amazing plan.

Are there required materials for the classes?

Each teacher will assign any necessary materials required to participate in the coursework. If you purchase the class but do not purchase the required materials for the class, this will void the refund policy. Any questions regarding required materials and refund policies should be directed to Lisa through “myschoolapp”

What is your refund policy?

We understand that you may realize our classes are not a good fit for your child and so we offer a full refund less 20% for the first 4 days after a class starts.

For the past few years, I have been honored to be a speaker at the Canadian Online Homeschool Conference.

The conference is designed to encourage, inspire and give homeschooling parents the boost they need to keep going. And Lisa knows how to make it fun.

This is the time of year when homeschoolers often start to feel sluggish and weary – especially this year. It’s easy to get discouraged and question all the decisions you’ve made for the year. 

As you know, I believe that community is a big key to being successful as a working homeschool mom. It’s also one of the big reasons that the annual Canadian Online Homeschool Conference is held each year in February. Because we all can use a hand over this slump.

The 6th annual Canadian Online Homeschool Conference kicks off on February 7th, 2022 and runs through to the 12th. Registration is open now!
